I made this jewelry box for my loving wife for Christmas of 2016. This was the first project I worked on after getting the shop together.

Small Bowls and Cups

I call this "Wolf Bowl" for the unusual grain pattern that looks like a wolf's head. I didn't even notice it until I took the bowl off the lathe. As I was doing the final sanding I noticed it.

Small but Tricky Bowl

Cutting and combining the dark and light colored wood was tricky. 5 exotic woods make up this little bowl.

This Pine Candy Bowl was made by taking a 2X6 cut into exact squares (32 of them) and alternating the grain directions so no two adjacent pieces have matching grain direction.

Chalice

This chalice is unusual for a couple of reasons. The base has 5 different types of hardwood. What looks like a vertical crack is in fact a very thin grain line that is visible on two sides and goes thru the middle of the cup. I include a few pictures of the process as the chalice is being formed. The top ring is Purpleheart. A one of a kind piece that could not be duplicated !

My most recent candle holder is by far my most unusual. This one log made several items that have what look like fingers including the nails. I am including several pictures so you can see the different grain patterns around the candle holder.

Candle Tower

This Candle Tower was made from the same log that the above key bowl was made out of. Looking at the fingers you can see the similiarities in grain patterns. I purposely turned this off center to provide a flat side to allow this to be closer to the wall and use a narrorer shelf. It was finished 08-07-2017.
